About Morgan Montañez

Brief Introduction

My name is Morgan Montañez. I earned my PhD in Sociology at Washington State University in Pullman Washington in Fall 2023 and I work as a Project Manager in the Office of Research in the Social and Economic Sciences Research Center. I am also the current Chair of the Rural Race and Ethnicity Research Interest Group for the Rural Sociology Society.

My research largely centers around minority-majority communities and the unique barriers that people in these and low resourced areas face to accessing healthcare and aid programs. I am particularly interested in rural Hispanic communities in the Southwest region that was previously Mexico. In addition, I have a considerable amount of research experience in sustainability and resiliency working on both USDA SCRI and LFPP grants.
